2011 Album of the Year Runners Up
We all know how this goes. The ones that were good, but for some reason or another didn’t quite have enough to make it on the final list. I’ve got a lot of albums to go through so I’ll make this pretty quick. My honorable mentions list is made up of bands that I did not listen to enough to form a strong opinion on other than I liked it.
Mixtapes - Maps and Companions
I couldn’t put this album on the list in good conscious because it’s really a re-released version of their earlier album Maps with five new songs. Other than that it would have been at the top of the list.
Until Your Heart Stops - Errors
It’s a band named after a Cave In album? Of course I had to check them out. These are some really solid Post-Hardcore tunes.
Astronautalis - This Is Our Science
One of the best Hip-Hop albums this year. I love his mix of Indie Rock and Rap. This would have made it higher, if only I had listened to it just a bit more.
Bangers - Small Pleasures
This was really close to being on the list this year, but a few last minute releases just barely knocked it off. Excellent Gruff Pop Punk from the U.K.
